Give the Gift of Education

For most of us College isn't cheap, but with your help it can be affordable. Please give the gift of education and dontate an amount of your choice to help fund my college education. I use PayPal for all my donations

I dont expect anyone to contribute blindly to a cause that sounds worthwhile. If I were to contribute my hard earned money, I would want to know more about the cause, where my money will be going and what it will be funding. Therefore, I wrote a brief biography below about who I am, why I am in college, and what your gift will fund. If you'd like more information, feel free to contact me by mail or email.

A brief biography:

I graduated from Clark College in Vancouver Washington on June 17th of 2010. I would like to further my education and attend Washington State University - Vancouver to pursue a Bachelors in Computer Science, but am currently unable to do so due to hard economic and financial times.

I am disabled, due to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in late 2006. I am also married, and a father of 2 boys ages 16 and 18. It is difficult maintaining a family of 4 on a slim budget, which is why I created this page.

My diagnosis forced me to stop my then blue-collar work, and I needed a new way to support my family. A good friend, Scott Lunde, introduced me to the idea of going to College. I realized that college would give me the opportunity to learn new skills, which would enable me to provide for my family in one of the very few ways I could. Shortly after our conversation, I enrolled at Clark College for a 2 year Associates in Applied Technology Degree in Web Design and Development.

I began my academic career in October 2006, and graduated with Honors on June 17th 2010.

Although I am enjoying the fruits of my academic labor, it is my dream to eventually earn a Bachelors from Washington State University. With your help, this dream can become reality.

If you feel so inclined, please use the paypal link above to donate an amount of your choice to help support my continuing education.

Is the Cost of Higher Education Worth It?

I found a great article by Eric Digests regarding Higher education and its benefits to our society. This is a great read and explains in greater detail what you are supporting by contributing.

Below are the first two paragraphs of the article followed by a link to the full listing.

The escalating cost of higher education is causing many to question the value of continuing education beyond high school. Many wonder whether the high cost of tuition, the opportunity cost of choosing college over full-time employment, and the accumulation of thousands of dollars of debt is, in the long run, worth the investment. The risk is especially large for low-income families who have a difficult time making ends meet without the additional burden of college tuition and fees.

In order to determine whether higher education is worth the investment, it is useful to examine what is known about the value of higher education and the rates of return on investment to both the individual and to society.
